Although they are true to size, I am glad I bought 1/2 size bigger than I usually wear. The "tongue" is a piece of material that is sewn into the side seams attaching the shoe top to the shoe sole on both sides of the shoe, which for people having a very high instep like I do....is a very bad thing. It turns it into the type of shoe that I cannot wear and therefore never buy. That said...the 1/2 size bigger made these work for me even though there is empty space at the toes (which I am used to since most shoes are not even sold in my size 5.5). Have been wearing them around the house as a "trial" before starting the new job I bought them for, and they seem to be supportive and comfortable. Hoping that holds true once I spend an 8hr shift on my feet in them. They are made out of a textured stretchy material that ride a fine line between sport (comfort) and dressy (work required), all in all.... so far.... I really like them.
